Model Context Protocol (MCP) finally gives AI models a way to access the business data needed to make them really useful at work. CData MCP Servers have the depth and performance to make sure AI has access to all of the answers.

Use the CData ADO.NET Provider for ServiceNow with the DevExpress Windows Forms and Web controls to provide ServiceNow data to a chart.
The ADO.NET Provider for ServiceNow by CData incorporates conventional ADO.NET data access components compatible with third-party controls. You can adhere to the standard ADO.NET data binding procedures to establish two-way access to real-time data through UI controls. This article will demonstrate the utilization of CData components for data binding with DevExpress UI Controls (Windows Forms and Web controls), specifically binding to a chart that visualizes live data.
About ServiceNow Data Integration
CData simplifies access and integration of live ServiceNow data. Our customers leverage CData connectivity to:
- Get optimized performance since CData uses the REST API for data and the SOAP API for schema.
- Read, write, update, and delete ServiceNow objects like Schedules, Timelines, Questions, Syslogs and more.
- Use SQL stored procedures for actions like adding items to a cart, submitting orders, and downloading attachments.
- Securely authenticate with ServiceNow, including basic (username and password), OKTA, ADFS, OneLogin, and PingFederate authentication schemes.
Many users access live ServiceNow data from preferred analytics tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Excel, and use CData solutions to integrate ServiceNow data with their database or data warehouse.
Getting Started
ServiceNow uses the OAuth 2.0 authentication standard. To authenticate using OAuth, you will need to register an OAuth app with ServiceNow to obtain the OAuthClientId and OAuthClientSecret connection properties. In addition to the OAuth values, you will need to specify the Instance, Username, and Password connection properties.
See the "Getting Started" chapter in the help documentation for a guide on connecting to ServiceNow.
Windows Forms Controls
The code below shows how to populate a DevExpress chart with ServiceNow data. The ServiceNowDataAdapter binds to the Series property of the chart control. The Diagram property of the control defines the x- and y-axes as the column names.
using (ServiceNowConnection connection = new ServiceNowConnection(
"OAuthClientId=MyOAuthClientId;OAuthClientSecret=MyOAuthClientSecret;Username=MyUsername;Password=MyPassword;Instance=MyInstance;InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH")) {
ServiceNowDataAdapter dataAdapter = new ServiceNowDataAdapter(
"SELECT sys_id, priority FROM incident", connection);
DataTable table = new DataTable();
dataAdapter.Fill(table);
DevExpress.XtraCharts.Series series = new DevExpress.XtraCharts.Series();
chartControl1.Series.Add(series);
series.DataSource = table;
series.ValueDataMembers.AddRange(new string[] { "priority" });
series.ArgumentScaleType = DevExpress.XtraCharts.ScaleType.Qualitative;
series.ArgumentDataMember = "sys_id";
series.ValueScaleType = DevExpress.XtraCharts.ScaleType.Numerical;
chartControl1.Legend.Visibility = DevExpress.Utils.DefaultBoolean.False;
((DevExpress.XtraCharts.SideBySideBarSeriesView)series.View).ColorEach = true;
}

Web Controls
The code below shows how to populate a DevExpress Web control with ServiceNow data. The ServiceNowDataAdapter binds to the Series property of the chart; the Diagram property defines the x- and y-axes as the column names.
using DevExpress.XtraCharts;
using (ServiceNowConnection connection = new ServiceNowConnection(
"OAuthClientId=MyOAuthClientId;OAuthClientSecret=MyOAuthClientSecret;Username=MyUsername;Password=MyPassword;Instance=MyInstance;InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH"))
{
ServiceNowDataAdapter ServiceNowDataAdapter1 = new ServiceNowDataAdapter("SELECT sys_id, priority FROM incident", connection);
DataTable table = new DataTable();
ServiceNowDataAdapter1.Fill(table);
DevExpress.XtraCharts.Series series = new Series("Series1", ViewType.Bar);
WebChartControl1.Series.Add(series);
series.DataSource = table;
series.ValueDataMembers.AddRange(new string[] { "priority" });
series.ArgumentScaleType = ScaleType.Qualitative;
series.ArgumentDataMember = "sys_id";
series.ValueScaleType = ScaleType.Numerical;
((DevExpress.XtraCharts.SideBySideBarSeriesView)series.View).ColorEach = true;
}
